Mater Christi Catholic Girls, popularly known as the school of the princesses, is a school of federal status. The school registers for Federal examinations even at the Junior class level. The school draws its students from different states of the fedration even from abroad for a more balanced culture. Mater Christi opens for all Nigerian Girls who dream of holding strategic positions in the Nation and beyond, irrespective of the cultural background. The school colour is Blue and White

A BRIEF INTRODUCTION ON THE HISTORY OF A GREAT CITADEL, MATER CHRISTI CATHOLIC GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL

Embedded in the heart of a land of deep honour is an exquisite and inestimable Jewel. This priceless gem is situated in the town of Igede Ekiti, Ekiti State, a land where the source of the worldwide celebrated Osun River exist and the country home of Professor Fatunla, Nigeria’s first professor of Mathematics and Computer Science. This Jewel shaped in the form of a crystalline diadem, crowns the hill top of Oke-Aga; and is given the most unique and significant name man ever thought of, Mater Christi: the Mother of God.
Mater Christi Catholic Girls’ High School, fondly surnamed ‘The School of Princesses’ is a great citadel dedicated and inspired to assist the girl child for opportunity to access integral education.
The was establish on 29th September, 1997 by the sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ Congregation and was dully approved by Ekiti State Ministry of Education on 21st August, 1998 after thorough inspections. The school breeds students of enviable and different nationalities around the world and different states of the country for national integration, social and cultural cohesion.

The club is for science students. The students explore the natural surroundings with the view of making them appreciate science and have a better understanding of their environments

Also this society is created to arouse the interest of the students in competitive debates, quiz competition, symposia, and also to improve the spoken English of the students.

    As a citadel of learning and paradigm of standard secondary, the school has upheld the glory of Ekiti State which is known as the fountain of knowledge and land of honour through effective teaching and practical learning.

    The religious structure of the school system is the bedrock of the students’ disciplined lives with high moral standards, sound education, excellent results in the state, national and international examinations. The school remains the defending champion at Local, State, and Nation in Academics and Sports.

    • The School was awarded the Best Private School in Ekiti State in the 2019/2020 academic session to date.
    • In 2019, Mater Christi emerged first and second in the Second JKF Annual Essay writing competition for secondary schools in Ekiti State.
    • Mater Christi won the National Children Match Pass, Ekiti State in 2019. Mater Christi made Ekiti State proud in National Radio Nigeria Essay Competition, 2020.
    • The School of Princesses was second to none in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Congregation National Essay Competition 2020.
    • A little Princess of the school in SS1 class was the National Champion in Radio Nigeria Essay Competition in 2020.

    As part of the feats, the school has produced numerous dons in relevant fields of endeavor, among whom are Princess Akomolafe Adesola, the Best Graduating student of the first set of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, 2014. Princess Afere Modupe is the first Student to graduate with first-class honors in the Faculty of Law, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, 2019. The ex-students of the school are models in different Universities in Nigeria and Abroad.

    Moving on to our activities and celebrations, the session starts with the orientation of new students, induction and step-up for JSS1 and SSS1 princess. The students and staff have regular health talks and seminars. The school has standard Parents and Teacher Association (PTA) that meets every term prior to the Mid-term break. Press week and foundation day. Annual Cultural week that involves cultural carnival and the crowning of the year’s Miss Culture is celebrated with funs.

    Other school activities and celebrations include termly project/practical and, excursion week, annual school harvest, ex-students meeting and their on-going formation, Red Carpet and Gala night for grandaunts’  which culminates with annual valedictory service

    The Daily Haurarium of the school goes thus; students rise daily at 5:10 am; they attend Holy Mass at 6:00 am at 7:00 am they do their morning charge and then go for a refreshment. They undertake morning preparatory classes at 7:10 am and then start Morning Assembly activities at 7.30 am. Students start class from 8:00 am to 2:15 pm before lunch.

    They serve an hour siesta and then go for teaching afternoon prep that lasts until 6.00 am when daily family Rosary is said. Night preparatory class starts from 7.30 pm till 9:30 pm before they retire to say their night prayer in common. The students are given the opportunity to practice extra curriculum activities like sports, film viewing, club meeting, debate, and quiz.

    The following clubs exists in the school. The clubs have their meetings with picnics and excursion to exciting places and tourist sites.

    Old students and prefects resume earlier on weekends. New students resume two days later than the old student usually on Mondays. At the arrival of new students, they collect all their necessary school and books. This is followed by a four-day orientation program led by the School Counselor.

    The school organizes entrance examinations into JSS ONE, JSS TWO, AND SS ONE in February and July every year, the forms are available for sale at the following centers:

    Online purchase of forms through the school website is encouraged, completed admission forms should be returned by hand to the center from where they were purchased or bought to the examination center on the examination day. Students seeking admission into JSS ONE are tested in the use of English language and Mathematics. Successful candidates would be invited for written and oral interviews in the school premises

    Parents who seek admission for their children in class above year 7 {JSS ONE} should bring them to the school for examination and interview. Successful candidate pay a non-refundable deposit of #40,000 which is part of their first term school fees.
